Upgrade from 10 to 10.1: What if the upgrade wizard is interrupted?

$

I have a user who was upgrading from 10.0 to 10.1. She had finished the installation and was in the process of upgrading her existing license (ArcInfo single use with 3D Analyst and Spatial Analyst) but lost internet connection in the middle of it. She then closed out of the “Query for Upgrade” box. Once we get internet access back, how do we restart the upgrade process?

Thanks.

Need help with licencing manager ArcGis 10 education trail

$

I installed a student copy of AcrGis 10 a while ago using a dvd and now I need to download Hazus for a class.
To do that I need the second service pack for version 10. Going to the service pack download site it says to turn off my Licensing manager, but I don't have anything called that on my laptop. And when I try to download the Licensing manager for sp2 it's clearly missing.

How do I get my licencing manager? Or more importantly is the Licencing manager not available to trail software users?

ARCGIS 9.1 Licensing server not valid

We retired an old server that was running the ARCGIS licensing manager for 9.1. Was running fine.

Installed the license manager, and senitinel key with new license file from Customer Service.

The "new" computer is running Windows XP 32-bit SP3. I've moved the license manager before, and as long as was up and running, there were no issues.

On the computer with the license manager, When I display the hardware key status, it shows:

The Sentinel driver is installed and running.
Sentinel Driver Version PD-7.150
ESRI_SENITINEL_KEY=37102848

When I check the License Manager the status is as follows:

--------
Status
--------
Flexible License Manager status on Tue 4/23/2013 15:54

[Detecting lmgrd processes...]
License server status: 27004@labgx280
License file(s) on labgx280: C:\PROGRA~1\ESRI\License\arcgis9x\TIFFLZW9.lic:C:\PROGRA~1\ESRI\License\arcgis9x\Viewer9.lic:

labgx280: license server UP (MASTER) v7.0

Vendor daemon status (on labgx280):

ARCGIS: UP v7.0

Feature usage info:

Users of TIFFLZW: (Total of 1 license available)

Users of Viewer: (Total of 4 licenses available)

These are the same version that were working on the previous computer running License Manager.

I DID test from the client machine using a TCP tool and port 27004 is indeed listening.

All firewalls are turned off. Antivirus has been disabled. I'm at a loss for why the two of them are not communicating. We are dead in the water. Of course 9.1 is no longer supported, and we've been trying to budget to upgrade to 10.1.

Any and all suggestions welcome.

ArcGIS 10.1 won't start - Side-by-Side configuration is incorrect

I'm sorry, I don't have anything to add to this thread, but I can't see how to start a new one. I hope someone reading this thread will know an answer to my problem.

I have been using ArcMap10 for several months without a problem, but today, it wouldn't load and gave the message "The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect." I contacted ESRI, and they said I no longer am eligible for technical support! Yes, I'm very happy about that! I bought a one year license, and now, 6 months in, it's "good luck sucker". Their product doesn't work and they won't help make it work. Nice! Anyway, if anyone knows how to solve this problem short of reload the gazillion megabyte program over again, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Unable to run ArcMap 10.1 for Desktop

I'm a ArcMap 10.0 user and tried to install the new 10.1 upgrade. Unfortunally i get errors when starting the program. Our ICT backoffice did a repair and to my own suprise it worked. After restarting my laptop the error returns. Someone from Esri adviced to install SP1 for ArcGis but it didn't help.

I'm using OS Windows XP.

Updating ArcGIS Desktop from 9.3 to 10.1 via Group Policy

I am attempting to create a Group Policy to update ArcGIS desktop from 9.3 to 10.1. I want to write a script that, on startup, checks the current version, uninstalls the current version if it is not 10.1, then installs 10.1. I am having trouble finding the command to check the current version of ArcGIS though. Any suggestions?

License Error

Hi,

I have had ArcGIS 10.1 for Desktop through the Home Use program installed for some time, and never had any license issues until now.

I now getting the following error message when I try to start up.

Attachment 23806

--

Provide your license server administrator with the following information: Error Code = -76

Internal Error - Please report to Flexera Software, Inc.
Feature: ArcInfoFX
License Path: ;
FLEXnet Licensing error:-76,61026. System Error: 2""

--

I just uninstalled and re-installed but get the same issue. My license goes through July so it should still be valid.

Thoughts, ideas, suggestions?

Thanks for your help.

9.3.1 on Win7?

I have a user who is still on ArcGIS 9.3.1. She's getting a new PC and I need to know if there is any conflict between Windows 7 and ArcGIS 9.3.1.

And yes, I've strongly urged her to move to 10.1.

Attribute buffer size is too small

Hello, I just updated from ArcGIS Desktop 10.0 to 10.1 and am now getting an error message when viewing a table in our Oracle database. The error message is:

"Error reading OID from table. Reading rows has been stopped. Check that the datasource is valid. The attribute buffer size is too small."

The table is not spatial and no changes were made to the database. Why is this error now occurring and how do I fix it? I suppose the logical response is the increase the buffer size in the database but what stumps me is why did I not see this error in 10.0 and simply by installing 10.1 I get the error?

Thanks in advance,

Aron

ArcGIS crashes since windows update KP2817183

Has anyone else had this problem? My ArcGIS 10.1 suite (i.e. ArcMap, Explorer, Globe etc) all do the same thing. They will open to the point of the "Getting Started" window where you navigate to the file you want to open. The application then freezes and a Windows message kicks in saying "A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program...". I have uninstalled and reinstalled ArcMap without any change. I believe the KB2817183 update is for Explorer 10.

Arcgis 10.1 Error in Background processing after service pack 1

After I updated the Arcgis 10.1 with service pack 1 I'm no longer capable of running processes in background.
I've already unistalled everthing and reinstalled and as soon as I apply the service pack I can only run geoprocesses if background process is off.

I'm running ArcInfo in windows 7 ultimate 64bits.

That's the error I'm getting:

Code:

Runtime error  Traceback (most recent call last):  File "<string>", line 3, in <module>  File
"c:\program files (x86)\arcgis\desktop10.1\arcpy\arcpy\geoprocessing\_base.py", line 498,
in <lambda>    return lambda *args: val(*gp_fixargs(args, True))
ExecuteError: ERROR 001143: Background server threw an exception.

Is there some fix or other workaround besides turning background process off?

10.1 License Manager won't start after attempting to lock port

$

I have just installed LM 10.1. It works fine until I attempt to lock it to the port specified in the service.txt. It is the same port used on LM 10, but now if I stop the license in license server admin, change the service.txt file, and try to restart the license service, it fails. Any ideas? Did I miss something in the process? Thanks.

Here is the services.txt that works with 10.1
Code:

SERVER this_host ANY
VENDOR ARCGIS
INCREMENT ACT ARCGIS 1 permanent 1 0C8080D1B377B6E205C6 \
        vendor_info=734XCAP6LGGLCXJ9S195

Here is the old services.txt that worked in 10.0
Code:

SERVER this_host ANY 27000
VENDOR ARCGIS PORT=27000
FEATURE ACT ARCGIS 1 permanent 1 7ED49106D630

When I add the "27000" and "PORT=27000" to the new service.txt, the license manager will not start. Here is a portion of the error shown in the log:
Code:

Upgrade existing licenses 10.0 -> 10.1 in License Server Admin

$

Another licensing question - if I use the License Server Administrator option in 10.1 to upgrade existing licenses, will my 9.3.1 and 10.0 installations still work? So I could run all 3 on their respective machines?

I have just upgraded the LSA to 10.1, and am doing a fresh install of 10.1 on a new machine. When I try to start ArcMap, I get a message "license server system does not support this version of this feature". I am guessing this is because all the licenses on my LSA are still listed as 10.0?

I just don't want to push the big button until I know it won't kill my previous versions of ArcMap. Thanks!

License Manager 10.0/10.1 and IPv6

$

We have a license manager set up on a server to host concurrent licenses that are used by Desktop clients running on a mix of Windows XP and Windows 7 machines. We recently enabled IPv6 on that server to support the most recent release of the license server for Community Viz, which is installed on the same machine. Now we are experiencing an issue where the license server is not available because ArcGIS Administrator no longer recognizes the server name as a valid host.

There is a bug related to this issue (NIM065557 http://support.esri.com/en/bugs/nimbus/TklNMDY1NTU3) but there is no real resolution given. It says the issue is resolved at version 10.1, but I'm not certain whether the means we need to upgrade the client machines or just the license manager.

Has anyone else run into this issue and how did you resolve it?
