Activate the trial application

I have downloaded a trial version of arcGIS. After I installed, I started initiated the application named ArcMap and I retrieved the error message "provide your license server administrator with the following information Error Code = -96".

My goal is to test the arcGIS application by using the trial version.

I also retrieved information about instruction to activate the application but in reality no popup message was displayed.

-Install and authorize.
*Select a destination folder to extract the install files to. If you
choose, you can automatically launch the setup after the files have
been extracted.
When prompted, select ArcGIS for Desktop Advanced (ArcInfo) Single Use.
*Click Authorize Now.
*On the Authorization Options dialog, check the 'I have installed my
software and need to authorize it.' option and click Next.
*Enter your authorization number: xxxxxxxxxx, and click Next.
*On the Authorize Software Extensions dialog, select 'I do not want to
authorize any extensions at this time.' and click Next. The nine core
ArcGIS for Desktop extensions are included in your 60-day trial
authorization number.

How to deauthorize ArcSDE 10.0 after installing ArcDesktop 10.1?

$

I recently installed ArcDesktop 10.1 - and had ArcSDE 10.0 installed as well.
When I go to the ArcGIS Administrator - it does not show that ArcSDE 10.0 is installed, thus not allowing me to deauthorize.

How do I deauthorize my ArcSDE 10.0 instance?

Deauthorizing ArcDesktop 10.0

I needed to move two ArcEditor licenses to different computer. I went to the licenses manager and deauthorized the licenses, but when I tried to Authorize them on the new computers it tells me that there are not available licenses. The license manager tells me there are two available. ESRI is no help because my company dropped the maintenance after a year. Any ideas on what to do?

Where are the Coordinate System files in 10.1???

Hi All,

Where are the coordinate system files located in 10.1 (the .prj's)? In 9.3.1 they were in C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Coordinate Systems\, but now I can't find them! I've done a search for "coordinate system" and "spatial reference", but nothing comes up. I need to be able to browse to the location for setting projections when exporting Trimble GPS data into ArcGIS. We just upgraded to 10.1 a few months ago and didn't notice this problem until now....

Any thoughts? Thank you -
Janet

Installation issues

I'm sorry to bother everyone here, but I'm hoping someone can help.

I would try contacting ESRI, but they require a customer number, which I don't have since I've only got the trial version of the software. Anyway, I'm on a MacBook Pro, trying to install ArcGIS Desktop 10.0 on my Windows 7 partition, with a 64-bit system installation. ]Every time I try to install the program, I get the following error:

MICROSOFT SQL SERVER 2008 NATIVE CLIENT
An error has occurred during the installation of assembly
'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,version="8.0.50727.1833",type="win32",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b".processorArchitecture="x86".
Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x80070BC9
Attachment 21739

I'm thinking that processor line seems to be my problem, which means it may not be compatible with a 64-bit OS, but I can't be sure. Or, maybe it has to do with the SQL server. I don't have one of those; it's just little old me here on my personal machine, trying to learn how to use this software effectively.

Has anyone else had a similar problem? Anyone know of a way to deal with ESRI directly, instead of trying to fish around for "Customer numbers" and other such nonsense?

I was working late last night on my studies and wanted to uninstall an old version of HEC-GeoHMS and instead I selected ArcGIS Desktop and need to re-install, but how do I go about using the same 180 day Registration key I received with my text book GIS Tutorial 3 Advanced Workbook.

Any help from ESRI would be appreciated, as I need to get my assignments completed.

Authorized Spatial analyst now it quit working after 2 weeks

My GIS manager (who is out of the country) gave me a code to authorize Spatial Analyst on my ArcView license. I did this in late Jan 2013. I even have a screen dump showing that the authorization went through online, and I recieved a fullfillment ID, went to ArcGIS, turned on the Spatial Analyst, and ran a few tools to check it out.

Now, it has not been yet a month, SA no longer is authorized, and I can't reauthorize using the code because it tells me I already tried it. The screen dump showed I should have had access until Feb 25, 2013.

Any ideas? As I said, my GIS guru is out of the country.

Authorization Error (Error has been returned by hibernate)

I am trying to install my ArcGIS 10.1 for Desktop Advanced Student Edition. I am trying to authorize my software following the instructions on the esri website. While my software is authorizing an error comes up saying that "9999:Error has been returned by Hibernate," causing my authorization to fail. I do not understand what I am doing wrong and it is extremely annoying.

Error: "Authorizing Software Failed"

Hi,

I have been trying to install the 180-day trial of ArcGIS Desktop 10 (I'm a student) on my computer, and have been getting an error message after putting in my EVAxxxxxxxxx number and clicking the Authorize button, in the window where it shows the green authorization progress bars, which says "Authorizing Software Failed." I am using a 32-bit version of Windows 7 with Bootcamp on a Macbook Pro. Attempts to authorize my GIS software have been giving me various error messages since yesterday, as I keep trying to authorize it over and over with no success, but this is the one that I've been getting most today, and the others have disappeared.

Anyone have ideas? Should I try to authorize the software via the website or email, instead of doing it over the internet by the default option? Do I need to try deauthorizing and reauthorizing?

I'm very new to GIS (I'm installing the program for the first GIS class I've ever taken) so step-by-step guidelines telling me where to go/what to do would be most helpful.

Thanks.

I have been trying to install ArcGISDesktop101sp1.msp on my Prerelease version of 10.1. I keep getting an error message that "The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing.....". Has anyone else run into this problem? I am wondering whether it is because I am still having to use the prerelease verison.

ArcGIS for Desktop - Unable to Download Trial

Hello, I've been attempting to download the 60 day trial for ArcGIS so I can do my Geodesy Assignment on my laptop, but I can't actually download the file. I log into the trial page, but then it says that the site is experiencing difficulties and to try back later. I was just wondering if there is an alternative download link? Also when I download it does it need a specific key code to get the 60 day trial or is it automatic?

Thanks, looking forward to an answer,
Cody

Raster formats configuration (ArcGis 10.0 SP5)

Hi,

I am trying to add an additional file extension for a custom raster format (implemented via GDAL).

In RasterFormats.dat, i set the following config for my format:
Code:

<e on="y" nm="IRAP"          ex="*.irp; *.gri;" et="IRAP" at="0x27" />
ArcGis seems to ignore this. In ArcCatalog, I found the following:
  • Customize->ArcCatalog Options->Raster (tab)->File Formats
  • there are two options here:
    1. Search all files to find valid raster formats
    2. Search only files that math the following...
  • Option two is the default setting (at least within this organisation)

So, by adding the desired file extensions in the list item in option 2, it works fine.

But, regarding the installation: How/where do I add this config, is it somewhere in registry ?

10.1 license manager not allowing borrowing to 10.0 users

We have recently updated our ArcGIS license manager to 10.1
It sits on a virtualized Linux box.
We have end users with 10.1 installed that can borrow (using ArcGIS Administrator) any version (basic, standard, advance) of ArcMap.
However our 10.0 users can only borrow ArcView AKA “basic” licenses. They can use any type license concurrently.
Anyone having a similar problem? Is so do you know the fix?
Does anyone have a 10.1 license manager that is letting 10.0 users borrow any type license?
Any ideas?

I'm running Bootcamp on my MacBook, and I'm trying to run the student trial. I entered my authorization code, dowloaded from the website, extracted files, and ran the setup. Now I'm being met with Error code -94 and ArcMap won't open "License server machine is down or not responding." Help?

ArcGIS 10.1 Desktop Trial - Authorization Fail

I downloaded the trial, obtained the authorization number, completed the installation, went through the authorization process, saw the "Congratulations" message... Then I tried to actually run the software. FAIL - not authorized. Checked back with the Administrator, sure enough it's not authorized. Tried to re-authorize with the same code, but that failed because I've already used it once.

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I either need a new auth code, or I need a new wall because I've been banging my head against this one for too long. Somebody help me retain what little sanity I have left.

manage extensions

I have been tasked to create a simple vb form application that runs a batch file to change the license level of arcgis, and be able to change the enabled extensions.

So far I have made a small application that runs a specific batch file to change the license level and run arcgis. Is there any way that i can manage the enabled extensions in my app? or extensions can only be managed within the arcgis application only?
